How to Verify an Authorized Dealer

You should not take any installer's word for authorization, including ours. Verification takes five minutes and is worth doing before you sign anything.

Ask the installer directly which authorized 3M distributor they purchase through and whether they can produce documentation for the specific product being installed. An authorized dealer answers immediately; an unauthorized reseller changes the subject to price.

The Risk of Buying From Unauthorized Sources

Counterfeit and gray-market window film is a persistent problem, and Southern California sees more of it than most markets because demand for heat-rejection film is high and the visual difference on installation day is nil.

Counterfeit film is the worst case: sold under a premium name, it does not perform to that name's published specifications and typically fails early — purpling, delaminating between layers, or hazing under sustained UV exposure.
